Covid-19 pandemic shutdown.
Following the early shutdown of the curling season this year, as a result of Government measures brought in to tackle the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak, Cupar Province have been left with a wee dilemma regarding unfinished business. Most issues were purely administrative and have been settled by mutual agreement of the committee using email.
AGM: One such matter is the AGM which is now postponed. We are closely monitoring the situation and will advise on a new date as soon as we are confident in being able to hold an AGM. The other matters for discussion relate to the finalisation of our league and Knockout competitions.
League: The up to date results, with 10 of the 11 possible games all played is shown on the Dewars website here. On 18 points each are Forret and Rothes with Leuchars the nearest to them on 11 points. So, its all tobe played for between Rothes and Forret!
Knockout: The final of the knockout was also between Forret and Rothes and could not be played because of the lockdown. No other clubs are affected by this situation.
In an attempt to resolve this issue, to the satisfaction of all, consultation took place both by phone and email with the whole Province committee and the clubs affected. The consensus is that both the final session of the league and the knockout final should be played as planned. Obviously everything depends on how long restrictions on public gatherings lasts but the committee is resolved to have both fixtures completed at the start of the next season. Dewars have already offered additional ice to us, prior to normal season start, in anticipation of this decision.
